In May 2021, I was approached by a lady who wanted to send items to Africa to support the schools there in memory of my daughter. During our brief meeting, she asked if I was married. Her question surprised me because it was our first time meeting. Apparently, her brother had lost his wife and was not doing well. She asked if I would like to meet him to which I rapidly responded, NO! She persisted saying that he was nice and had cared for his invalid wife until she passed away. They had been married 33 years and I responded again, NO!

She then said these words that stopped me in my tracks. You can help him with his grief. That caught my attention because I am a victim of crime. My 14-year-old daughter, Gloria, was brutally raped and murdered in 1984. I am acquainted with grief. Since my daughter’s murder, I have worked to stop violence and to support those who are grieving. So her words touched my heart. I was willing to help him.

We started off with general phone conversations, which were about nothing and everything at the same time. Fast forward, before long, our conversations turned to compassion from the heart. We soon were announcing our wedding date, December 5, 2021. Everything was happening at warp speed, and we needed someone to guide us through the ceremony.

I will be forever grateful to Arlonda Stevens for stepping in at the last moment to assist. Her professionalism turned what seemed to be a rushed ceremony into something both professional and beautiful. She is what I would call a savior on earth. I would highly recommend her services!

We all dream for our special moments to be filled with beautiful memories. These stories will be shared repeatedly at family gatherings, with close friends, and from generation to generation. Dr. Arlonda created those memories for me.

I relocated to Tennessee, but Cleveland is my home. It was vital to me that my hometown bridal shower be as meaningful as my forthcoming wedding in Tennessee. Dr. Arlonda granted my wish! I walked in the door, and happy tears started to flow. It was magnificent, more than I could have ever imagined! Love and laughter radiated throughout the room. Every detail culminated into a delightful experience—from the sophisticated decorations, menu, and program with remarks from my loved ones to the parting gifts as my guests went on their way. When the whimsical event concluded, I truly felt, “It is well with my soul.” I was both mentally and spiritually prepared for my big day.

It was lovely, all of it, and fashioned an experience we will all cherish for a lifetime. A close friend recently shared with me a picture from the bridal shower as I am approaching my 18th wedding anniversary. The time goes by fast, but the memories last forever.
