Another wedding season is upon us!
The last couple of years have been quite interesting with the pandemic, COVID restrictions for weddings, changing traditions, micro-weddings, 2022 being a record year for weddings … and the list goes on.
I couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming wedding season and I am just as excited about this year’s new trends. So what’s in store for the 2023–2024 wedding season?
Here are the top 20 wedding trends
you are bound to see in many nuptial celebrations this year. Which ones will you incorporate into your special day?
- Wedding Maximalism — more is better with bold design, vibrant colors, playful activities, and, well, more.
- More Color — and not just for décor, flowers, and bridesmaids dresses; for bridal gowns as well.
- Pantone’s Color of the Year 2023 is Viva Magenta, an electrified red that promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration. The 2024 Pantone Color of the Year is Peach Fuzz, a warm and cozy shade that evokes kindness, tenderness, and collaboration.
- Love Drunk Blurry Photos that add variety to a wedding album and give the feeling of movement.
- Custom Dance Floors — checkered black and white, your wedding logo/monogram, faux wooden floors, or even Oriental rugs.
- A Private Last Dance gives the couple a special moment at the end of the day to reflect on the magical moments they just shared.
- Terracotta Color Palettes feature a mix of orange, red, and brownish hues that pair beautifully with sage green, dusty blue, and burgundy. Too many colors? See #1 and #2 above!
- Statement Aisles that make the bride’s grand entrance even more spectacular.
- The most popular wedding dates in the next two years are September 23, 2023, and September 21, 2024.
- Intimate ceremonies with the couple, officiant, and your 2 or 4 nearest and dearest — but everyone is invited to the reception. (See #11 below!)
- Big party receptions where the vibe is the more, the merrier.
- After Parties at a nearby bar or restaurant for a smaller group of people who just don’t want the wedding to end!
- Petite Bouquets, including just a few blooms to a single stem, are striking.
- Couples getting ready together, especially for same-sex couples, but also for couples looking to calm their nerves and spend more alone time together.
- First Touch, where couples meet before the ceremony but still don’t see each other. Maybe you’ll hold hands, say a prayer, or exchange notes — all without sneaking a peek!
- Non-uniform bridesmaid dresses, whether it’s all different dresses in the same color or the same dress in different colors — or a combination of the two.
- Sustainability, including ethical wedding rings, eco-friendly/recycled invitations, dried flowers, working with local vendors, renting décor, and reusable plates and silverware.
- Non-traditional guest books, such as video messages (like SpeechBooth) and messages on the back of pictures. You’re only limited by your imagination!
- Black tie or cocktail attire for wedding guests — we’ve been isolated for so long, now is the time to dress up and celebrate!
- Not being tied to “traditions” — more couples are moving away from traditional weddings and each wedding is a unique and reflection of the couple and their love story. We know each love story is different, so really, there are no rules that must be followed!
These wedding trends offer inspiration, but your special day should ultimately be a celebration of your journey together.
Whether you’re drawn to the vibrant colors of Pantone’s Color of the Year, excited about intimate ceremonies, or seeking a unique wedding that reflects your love story, I’m here to make it happen and I look forward to being part of your special day and helping you create memories that will last a lifetime!
